Denver and Colorado Plein Air Arts Festivals

Henry's River
2012 and 2013
Golden Triangle Museum District's Denver Plein Air Arts Fest 2012, and Colorado Plein Air Arts Fest 2013.
Within the Golden Triangle are Civic Center Park, City and County of Denver offices, Colorado State Capitol, History Colorado, Denver Art Museum, U.S. Mint Museum, Clyfford Still Museum, and Kirkland Museum.
GTMD arranged special painting locations in August and September, within in the Golden Triangle.
And, in celebration of the hundred anniversary of Denver Mountain Parks, they included parks along the Lariat Loop, including Red Rocks, Evergreen Lake, and the Buffalo Herd Overlook in Genesee Park.
Many of the locations had special days with food and water provided for artists.
GTMD exhibited selected paintings for sale in juried shows at Denver's Central Public Library's Vida Ellison Gallery.

I painted from one of the parking lots, looking east. I could see downtown Denver on the horizon. Further to the right I could faintly see the giant "golf balls" at Buckley Air Force Base.

On display at the Denver Public Library. Both paintings sold.

Henry's River
Henry Meininger hosted one of the paint outs. I was among a few artists who arrived first, and he welcomed us to his mountain home, and even made breakfast sandwiches for us. He also gave goodie bags to all of the artists, from Meininger Art Supply.
I painted down by the river. One of my fellow artists lost her watercolor painting - a gust of wind blew it into the river and away it went.

Henry's River received an Honorable Mention Award and sold opening night!
